what are the laws about copyright when selling stuff in my shop?

i have a shop and sell art and pictures and stuff and i’ve started to buy books and cut out stuff and put it in mounts and sell it from the shop. the stuff is fairly obscure, some quite old, some from the seventies and eighties, newspaper cuttings, old adverts out of magazines, science fiction books, books on cinema lobby cards, photos of old film posters and art etc. i am slightly concerned that there may be a copy right issue, advice of info would be fab, thanks

There will be no problem if you are simply reselling stuff you have paid for (even if you have re-packaged it).. the problem comes when you COPY the stuff ..or try to pretend something is what it is not …

eg. say you buy a container load of ‘Gucci’ watches from China .. you can sell them as ‘Chinese watches in Gucci(tm) style’ no problem (OF COURSE your supplier has shown you their license to reproduce the Gucci logo and you are happy to acknowledge Gucci trademark in your advertising)….

On the other hand, if you try to sell them as ‘Genuine Gucci’, they will have you ..
