Junior Science Games

How to get into the video game industry?

I am currently a junior studying Chemical Engineering student at the Univeristy of Kansas. I love video games and how they are made…………however, i don’t know how to get into the industry. Would i need a computer science degree or something? I would like to work for a publisher or developer like Ubisoft or Rockstar Games………….so any advice?

To be honest I haven’t kept up with the industry for a while now. A few years back a friend and I both went through college programs for game design. He went to a tech school and learned mostly that side of it while I went to an art school that focused mainly on the design aspect.

Some positions might require college degrees, but I believe that having a decent portfolio/demo reel is WAY more important. Focus on building that so that you can send that off to various companies.
