I like this guy and I need to know how to figure out if he likes me. HELP!?

Ok I am in the eighth grade and I like this guy who sits in front of me in science. I have known him since fifth grade but this year we have become really good friends. He flirts with me a lot but he flirts with a lot of other girls. He sat with me at a football game we went to but then later this other girl came and started flirting with him and he did back. I really like this guy and I want to know if he might possibly like me. and if so what do i do?

ask him out before the other girl does or else you will have no date with him
