How can I help my boyfriend study?

My boyfriend and I are both sophomores in college. He failed three classes last year, and I worry he’ll be dismissed from the university if he doesn’t step up his game.
He failed an English 102 class, and since I’m an English-and-History kind of girl, I offered to help him with his analytical papers by editing for grammar and content, and he accepted.
He also is lacking in math, but I’m not good at it! And he’s majoring in Geology, so he’s taking a lot of Earth Sciences classes, which I also know nothing about.
How can I help him study to improve his GPA when I don’t know anything about the topics?
