Earth Science Books

Earth science book questions?
remember..these are to be short answers!
1.Describe the importance of water vapor in the atmosphere.
2.Why does temprature increase with height through the stratosphere?
3.Rank the main atmospheric gassesnin the troposphere from most to least abundant.Do not include trace gasses
4.Based on what you know about radiation and conduction, what conclusion might u make about summer tempratures in a city, compared to those in the surrounding country side.
5. How is dew point related to saturation?
6.what is the relationship between temprature and altitude in temprature inversion?
7.hoe does atmospheric pressure change with height in the atmosphere?why does it change?
8.compare and contrast humidity and relative humidity.

put subject-science answers
1. traps heat so it doesnt escape back into space, and contributes to water cycle
2. The heating is caused by an ozone layer that absorbs solar ultraviolet radiation, heating the upper layers of the stratosphere.
3. Nitrogen, Oxygen, Argon
4. hotter in the city because of asphalt absorbs and radiates heat back out into the first few feet of the ground, as well as having an increased temperature so that it is hotter to the touch as well.
5. The dew point is the temperature to which a given parcel of air must be cooled, at constant barometric pressure, for water vapor to condense into water. The condensed water is called dew. The dew point is a saturation point
6. an increase in temperature with an increase in height
7. pressure decreases because there is less air and thus less mass pressing down on earth as you increase altitude.
8. Humidity is the amount of water vapor in the air. Relative humidity is defined as the ratio of the partial pressure of water vapor in a parcel of air to the saturated vapor pressure of water vapor at a prescribed temperature.
